Queen Charlotte Track Joins NZ Great Rides

The Queen Charlotte Track is now part of the NZ Cycle Trail. The stunning Queen Charlotte Track in the Marlborough Sounds has officially become the 21st Great Ride on the NgÄ Haerenga New Zealand Cycle Trail, Minister of Conservation Nick Smith announced today.
"This 70 km mountain biking track runs from historic Ship Cove to Anakiwa in the Marlborough Sounds offering some of the best views you can get over the Queen Charlotte and Kenepuru Sounds," says Dr Smith.
The Queen Charlotte walkway has been at the forefront of the biking revolution sweeping New Zealand, in allowing mountain biking for some years. It was my own experience as a tramper doing the full length of the Queen Charlotte that convinced me that tracks could be managed quite adequately with both walkers and bikers.
This official status as one of New Zealand’s Great Rides helps raise the profile of the trail even further and is a boost for Marlborough and the top of the South Island tourism industries.

"Cruise, Walk and Lunch" Special

Cruise from Picton to Resolution Bay and walk 10.5 km on the famous Queen Charlotte Track to historic Furneaux Lodge where you can order one choice from the main menu and relax in comfort while waiting for the boat to pick you up at approx. 3:00pm. The boat returns to Picton at approx. 4:30pm.
