Operations

Pick up from Furneaux Lodge is 3:15pm

Description

Cruise to Ship Cove/Meretoto to begin your walk in the historic bay where explorer Captain James Cook once anchored his ships.

A gradual climb through stunning native forest rewards you with magnificent views over Queen Charlotte Sound/Tōtaranui and Cook Strait. Passing Resolution Bay, take a break on the seats overlooking Endeavour Inlet before descending to the shoreline and the easy walk into Furneaux Lodge.

If you have time, enjoy a well deserved snack and a drink at the lodge before meeting us at the jetty for the boat ride back to Picton.

What your day looks like

Check-in at Cougar Line, Picton

Final check-in is 30 minutes prior to departure

Water Taxi

We'll take you to Ship Cove on our water taxi

Walk to Furneaux Lodge

Walk the Queen Charlotte track toward Furneuax Lodge. Climb up and over the Tawa Saddle, before descending down into the Endeavour Inlet

Water Taxi

We'll pick you up around 3:15pm for the journey home. Sit back and relax as we work our way back down the Sound

Note for Winter Walkers

If you're planning to do this walk over winter, due to the length of the section from Ship Cove to Furneaux Lodge, it is recommended only for fit walkers/runners if you wish to catch the same-day Cougar Line pick-up from Furneaux Lodge.
